Death Valley: Within Death Valley, be sure to stop and watch the Meskite Flats Sand Dunes. The best time to visit Death Valley is in spring or autumn, but still, if possible, visit the dunes near sunrise or sunset. There is no shade during the summer heat, but sand dunes also make an ideal place to watch the sunrise or sunset.
Another must-see is the Badwater Basin, the lowest place in North America. The salt flat extends for miles, but you only have to walk 10 minutes to get the dirty salt out of the walkway. Before leaving, be sure to drive through Artist Drive to get into the colorful hills.
Joshua Tree: From Death Valley, the drive to Joshua Tree takes about four hours. The Joshua Tree has plenty of habitat, and the most popular places to visit are near the northern end of the park, which has the name Joshua Tree.

• Bryce Canyon National Park to Page - 153 mi
• Page to Grand Canyon - 133 mi

Mills Cover: 810 mi (1303 km) round trip approx.
About Road Trip:
One of the classic road trips in the western United States, is the short loop beginning and ending in Las Vegas: Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Grand Canyon. We did this road trip with eight people between the ages of eight and 80 during a week!
Las Vegas: Before we officially hit the road, we had a day to reach Las Vegas, rent a car, and go grocery shopping.
Springdale Utah and Zion National Park: 1 mile drive from Las Vegas to Springdale, Utah, 160 miles, to reach Zion National Park. After spending the night, we had a full day exploring Zion, especially the west side with a family-friendly hike to the west, accessible via free shuttle inside the park.
Bryce Canyon National Park: After the second night in Springdale, we passed through the eastern side of Zion National Park on our way to Bryan Canyon.
The scenery is spectacular but most of the road is small and it takes several hours to 85 miles in the air. We made it in time to take in the sunset, called the sunset point, which is a grand introduction to Bryce Canyon.
Bryce Canyon National Park: Again we had a full day of hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park, and the next morning after the final trip to Sunrise Point, we started the long drive to the Grand Canyon. This driving day ran 286 miles and took a lot more throughout the day.

Page Arizona: We stopped at Page, Arizona about halfway to lunch. Just in the afternoon sunshine, we saw the Grand Canyon Visitors Center for the first time and arrived at a hotel in Tuscany, Arizona.
Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam: Our last full mountaineering day we did on parts of the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim Trail. We had a 280-mile drive to Las Vegas this weekend, a final stop for visiting the Hoover Dam out of town.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA TO CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK IN SOUTHERN OREGON

ROUTE: San FranciscoKlamath FallsAshlandCrater Lake National ParkSan Francisco
DAYS: 3
Route Stocks: From San Francisco to Crater Lake, a stop at Kelmath Falls (south-east of the park) or Ashland (south-west of the park)
Mills Cover: 800+ miles (1288 km) round trip
About Road Trip:
San Francisco Bay Area to Crater Lake National Park: Road trips from San Francisco Bay Area to Crater Lake National Park in southern Oregon are great for weekend trips. The distance is about 400 miles. If you wish, you can stop at Klamath Falls for the night before heading to Crater Lake the next day. However, there is not really much to see in Klamath Falls, so I would only recommend it for ease of accessing the lake.
Ashland and Medford: Ashland and Medford, although located a short distance away, are two other cities in southern Oregon that would make for excellent stops before or after visiting the national park. Ashland is home to the famous Shakespearean festival and is a very quaint town that makes for an interesting road trip destination.

Road Trip Ideas
West Coast USA Road Trip

Drive to Crater Lake: As there are no towns next to Crater Lake, you can enter either half an hour from Ashland / Medford and 45 minutes from Klamath Falls.
If you go in summer when there is no snow, you should definitely complete the rim drive. This route takes you about two-thirds of the way around the pit and you can stop at several viewpoints along the way to take a picture.
Crater Lake: If you visit Crater Lake during the winter months or in any month where there is too much snow, the rim drive is likely to be closed. In this case you want to park at the main visitor center and walk around the outskirts of the pit.
Either way a trip to Crater Lake will mostly involve walking around, staring into the distance and appreciating the incredibly unique and panoramic views.

WINE COUNTY ONE DAY CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP

ROUTE: LA to Paso Robles and Santa Ynez Valley
Road Trip Ideas
West Coast USA Road Trip
Day: 1
Route Stocks: Los Angeles to Paso Robles and Santa Ynez Valley
Mills Cover: 681 mi (1096 km) round trip
About Road Trip:
The secret is out. Paso Robles, some 200 miles north of Los Angeles, is producing some of the best wines in the world. And it's not much better than a quick romantic weekend getaway.
To say that the region has become a hot spot is an understanding - today Paso Robles alone has more than 300 winners. Like surfing through Netflix, all these options can be overwhelming. So we worked for you and chose our top recommendations. And hey, if all else fails, there is always Netflix.
Los Angeles to Buelton, 138 mi: Hitching Post II
It is called Paul Giamati with the Pollution Effect - 2004 cult dyno movie that put a spotlight on Santa Ynez's Pinot Noir.
Many of the film's most memorable scenes were filmed in Restaurant Hitching Post II, known for their films Mignon and Pinot Nair. Although something tells me that the bartender has heard the classic line more than once, "If someone orders Merlot, I'm leaving!" We recommend a Pinot Noir flight ($ 18) consisting of four 2 oz pins.

Buellton to Paso Robles, 100 mi: Wine tasting at Dau Vineyard
With so many wins, how can we limit it to just one? Well, Daou is very special. Daou is located at one of the highest places in the region with sweeping views.
The winery was founded by Georges and Daniel Dow, brothers from Lebanon who moved to France at the age of 10- and 14 to avoid civil war. He became fascinated with wine making and the rest is history. Tastes are $ 40 per person.
Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo, 35 mi: Evening on Petit Soil
Petit Soleil is one of our favorite hotels. It offers free wine and breakfast, a large breakfast and easy parking. Hey, we're from LA ... now it's a luxury item! The boutique hotel is French themed, down to the room decor and tailored to the music on the alarm clock / CD player.

Another 1 or 2 days can be spent in Canyonlands biking, hiking, off-roading and river rafting. Be sure to visit Dead Horse Point State Park as a side trip near the entrance to Canyonlands Island in the Sky.

LAS VEGAS TO DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK DAY TRIP – WEST COAST TRIP

ROUTE: Las VegasAmargosa Valley – Death Valley – Shoshone – Las Vegas
Road Trip Ideas
Day: 1
Route Stocks: Las Vegas - Amargosa Valley - Death Valley - Shosophone - Las Vegas
Mills Cover: 450 mi (724 km) round trip
About Road Trip:
A round trip from Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park is one of my favorite west coast road trips in the United States. You can make the whole route in a single day, and still see many of the park's top attractions, or you can add it in a couple to stop at night.
Las Vegas to Death Valley: The route is about 125 miles from Las Vegas to Death Valley, and on a day trip, you will travel about 75 miles to the park. It is about 325 miles, but there are plenty of stops to make it a pleasant day, and can be back by evening. If you choose to cross the far side of the park, and want to stay overnight, it will be about 450 miles for the round trip. Mostly, we prefer day trips.
Amargosa Valley: We recommend using US Route 95 from Las Vegas, and commissioning Highway 373 in the Amargosa Valley. You cannot stop for refreshments at the crossroads! When you arrive at Death Valley Junction, you may want to visit Amargosa Opera House before turning to the park at 190 Valley, Death Valley Road.
Road Trip Ideas
Death Valley Road: Death Valley Road includes Zabrisky Point, Furnace Creek, Devils Cornfield, Mesquite Dunes and Stovepipe Wells. You may want to stop a bit, or at least explore each of these stops, so bring plenty of water. Go back to Stowpipe Wells and Badwater Road to visit Artist Drive and the Badwater Basin, where you can get some amazing photos.
Town of Shosophone: Your last stop of the day will be the small town of Shoshone, where you can see the mining remains, and have dinner before heading back to Las Vegas.

PORTLAND OR TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK WEST COAST USA ROAD TRIP

ROUTE: From Portland, Oregon to Yellowstone National Park, stopping in Richland, WA and Missoula, MT
DAYS: 10
ROUTE STOPS: 4
·         Portland to Richland – 220 miles
·         Richland to Island Park – 606 miles
·         Island Park to Yellowstone – 77 miles
·         Yellowstone to Missoula – 313 miles
MILES COVERED :  1600 miles (2575 kilometres) round trip approx.

About Road Trip:
After watching a documentary about Yellowstone National Park, we knew we would have to see it. And in 2017, with flights, car hire and accommodation booked, we traveled from Portugal to this amazing national park.
Portland: We landed in Portland, OR after a long flight from the UK and hit I-84 east after the Columbia River on the banks of the Columbia River. The scenery was stunning.
We then headed to Richland on I-82, where we stayed overnight. From Richland we boarded US-395, joining I-90 in Ritzville. This road took us to the Coeur d'Alene in Idaho, a beautiful lake surrounded by rich forests. We stayed at an interesting place called the 50,000 Silver Dollar Inn to cheer up.
Missoula in Montana was our next stop for lunch, as we planned to do 600 miles from Richland to Island Park, Idaho in one day.
Road Trip Ideas
West Coast USA Road Trip

Island Park and Yellowstone National Park: Late in the evening, we finally arrived at Island Park, ready to begin exploring Yellowstone National Park with our son over the course of four days. We saw bison, Old Faithful eruptions, lots of springs and a stunning sunset. Visiting Yellowstone with our son was our best holiday to date. And 800 miles by all means!
Missoula, Montana: On the return trip, we took the same route back to Portland, with a 3-day halt in Missoula, Montoula, to break up the trip. It was a city that surprised us with many things on offer for families like ours. If we had more time, we would spend time around Coeur d'Alene.
Mount Hood: Our original plan was to stop by Mulnoma Fall on our return from Richland to Portland, but due to wildfires, and the entire Columbia River gorge was closed, and we had to take a turn around Mount Hood, which Was very picturesque.

·         Second Beach to Rialto Beach – 10 miles
·         Rialto Beach to Shi Shi Beach – 65 miles
·         Shi Shi Beach to Olympic National Park – 81 miles
MILES COVERED :  204 miles (328 kilometres) round trip approx.

About Road Trip:
Washington state is known for its moody vibes and breathtaking mountain forests. Surprisingly, one of the best things to do in Washington is to take a two-day road trip along the Olympic Peninsula coast. The beaches are full of sea piles, drift, wildlife and many sea anemones. The vibes and views are outstanding. A road trip with many stops to the beaches is the perfect way to experience the Pacific Northwest.
Kalaloka and Ruby Beach: If you are moving from South Coast to North Coast, your first stop is Kalaloka and Ruby Beach. There, you can experience the exciting Tree of Life. If you choose, you can spend the night at Kalloch Lodge or drive north on First, Second and Third Beach.
To reach the second and third beaches, you need to hike a few miles, but the effort is well worth the hike with views of the ocean and many wildlife. The second beach is an excellent location for beach camping, don't forget to get a permit.
Rialto Beach: The next stop will be Rialto Beach which is primarily known for its "hole in the wall" photography spot. It is also a great beach sunset place.
Shi Shi Beach: The ultimate destination is the great Shi Shi Beach. The most difficult is its 8-mile round trip hike. However, it is an excellent place to backpack and camp. Just be sure to get the right permits.

MILES COVERED: 1391 miles (2239 kilometers) return trip SF to Las Vegas
About Road Trip:
It is a great journey because it connects two incredible (and very different) cities with three awe-inspiring (and very different) national parks.
SF to Yosemite National Park: Start with spending three days in San Francisco. In San Francisco, highlights include a cable car ride, going to Chinatown and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge.
Then walk towards Yosemite National Park. It takes about half a day to take two full days in the park. At Yosemite, drive and / or watch and admire the El Capitan and Half Dome, dramatic rock formations that dominate the Yosemite Valley.
Yosemite National Park to Sequoia National Park: Again another half day on the road to Sequoia National Park, where you can easily spend a full two days. Then a full day of driving, especially if you are in an RV, as you have to backtrack to the northern entrance of Sequia National Park and take the long way to Death Valley National Park. This drive passes you through a lot of parks.
Road Trip Ideas
West Coast USA Road Trip

In Sequoia, home to the tallest trees on Earth, Congress Trail, Big Trees Trail, and nearby Kings Canyon National Park do not miss, where you can see giant trees such as General Grant, General Sherman and Chief Sekoya.
Death Valley: Spend a full two days in Death Valley before moving to Las Vegas, where you can easily stay for three days before reaching home.
The Death Valley features a mini-badland amidst sand dunes, salt flats and many desert landscapes. It is very hot in Death Valley, so avoid summer!
Death Valley to Las Vegas: Of course, Las Vegas has dozens of casinos on the famous strip, but if you don't gamble, look at themed features like New York's roller coaster, Bellagio's fountain and Mirage's volcano eruption. happiness.
This road trip is really something for everyone.

Yosemite National Park is the ideal place for a road trip. This Yosemite road trip can be completed in 3 days or can be extended as long as you want. All stops are found in the periphery of the park.
Mariposa Grove: Start your road trip in Mariposa Grove near the park's southern entrance, where you can see some of the world's largest trees. From here you will drive to the historic Vavona Hotel. It is a very beautiful hotel with a fantastic restaurant. If you are hungry, take advantage of the opportunity. This may be your last great meal for a few days.
Tunnel View Lookout: After lunch, you will stop at the famous Tunnel View Lookout. Find a parking spot and take your time, it's worth every minute. After Tunnel View you will make your way to Yosemite Valley. Come back to your accommodation and go outside to explore the valley.
Your next several stops can be seen walking around the valley floor. Use your park map to locate Bridalveil Fall, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, and Half Dome.

Mist Trail, Vernal and Nevada Falls: The next morning you will tackle the Mist Trail to get a closer look at Vernal and Nevada Falls.
Glacier Point and Yosemite Valley: In the afternoon you will sit back in the car to get to Glacier Point. This is another famous lookout for photographs. The drive will take approximately one hour and 15 minutes each way. You can relax on your second night back in the Yosemite Valley and see the stars on a clear night.
Tiaga Pass: The next morning you will visit the infamous Tioga Pass. You will follow the Tiaga Pass all the way to Tuloga Meadows. The drive may take 90 minutes, but the object is to take your time.
There are tons of lookouts and rivers and mountains along the way. Stop wherever you feel interesting and enjoy this peaceful and serene side of Yosemite. I assure you, there will be no rush here. Bring a lot of water and snacks with you as you will not find anywhere to buy anything on the road.

Tuolumne Meadows and Pacific Crest Trail: Once you reach the Tuolumne Meadows, you can go on a picnic, take a walk, or even see part of the Pacific Crest Trail. Whenever you are ready, you can start the slow drive back to Yosemite Valley for your final rest night in the park.

UTAH WEST COAST USA ROAD TRIP

ROUTE: MoabArches National ParkBryce Canyon National ParkZion National Park
 DAYS: 6
ROUTE STOPS:
·         Arches National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park – 246 miles
·         Bryce Canyon National Park to Zion National Park  – 75 miles

MILES COVERED :  634 miles (1020 kilometres) round trip

About Road Trip:
Zion, Bryce and Arches are three of my favorite national parks in the world. Take it from Park Ranger, who has worked and camped in his fair share of parks, these Utah gems are clearly of perfection. If you haven't fallen in love with the raging charm of the Red Rock Desert yet, oh boy, get ready to fall hard.
That said, these three beauties are still deep in their own way. The starting point of the trip is Moab, Utah.

Arches National Park: On the east side of the state, the arches are like a desert, but everywhere you look, with a forest of red slabs and quaint arches. The arches are in the best area, in my opinion; The entrance city of Moab is full of red and fun adventure activities. Moab Brewery has great food and superior beer.
Bryce National Park: Bryce, in between the two, known for its human-like hoodoo, almost feels like a Grand Canyon with its rim hikes and cedar forests.

Zion National Park: Zion is famous for needing the most shuttle bus in a year, as it is just so popular, it is named "Paradise" for a reason.
To see these parks properly, I recommend at least two solid days in each and camp as often as possible. Fortunately, the longest drive of this road trip - which is between Arches and Bryce - is 244 miles through only a few scenic areas. The road trip in its entirety (not including every park's quest to your heart's content) totals just 317 miles.
I spend the most time in and around the Archean and in and around Zion. Bryce is lovely, but smaller and more easily appreciated in a day or so.
Plus, you can't spend every empty moment hiking in every park wrong. In particular, the landing of Nairo and Angel in Zion is virtually world famous, for good reason (you need a permit for Nairo, so plan ahead).
You can travel to this Utah National Park in less than a week, or really take your time and pull it out. I've done it both ways, and have never been disappointed.

SAN FRANCISCO TO REDWOODS OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WEST COAST USA ROAD TRIP

ROUTE : Mendocino –  towns of Fort Bragg & Leggett – Humboldt Redwoods State Park
 DAYS: 4
ROUTE STOPS:
·         San Francisco to Mendocino – 155 miles
·         Mendocino to Fort Bragg  – 10 miles
·         Fort Bragg to Leggett  – 43 miles
·         Leggett to Humbolt Redwoods State Park – 56 miles
MILES COVERED :  500 miles (805 kilometres) round trip

About Road Trip:
One of the best road trips in California is the route between San Francisco and Northern California's Redwoods. The journey takes about 4 days and will take you through the sleepy coastal cities of Mendocino and Fort Bragg before reaching your final destination at Humboldt Redwoods State Park (part of Redwood National Park, California).
Mendocino: Mendocino is best known for its beautiful iconic rocks that extend into the Pacific Ocean. Hike along the cliffs at Mendocino Headland State Park to explore the inside of the kayak cliffs in the sea caves or take in the gorgeous ocean views. Check out the quaint town area for a small town vibe and some fudge.
Fort Bragg - Be sure to explore the stained glass beach at Fort Bragg. It is famous in California for its amber, white, green and sometimes blue sea glass. Noyo Headlands Park also offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean.

Town of Leggett - Another place to stop en route to the Redwoods is the town of Leggett. Here you will find the Chandelier Drive-Through Tree, a remnant of bygone days, when it was socially acceptable for cars to drive through trees as a road trip sight to see.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park: Finally, you will reach Humboldt Redwoods State Park, home to some of the world's tallest redwood trees. Don't miss the drive through the Avenue of the Giants, nowhere else will you feel so small as you coast among the towering redwood trees. The hiking trails within the park are also amazing, especially in Founders Grove and Rockefeller Forest.

LOVE AFFAIR WITH BAJA CALIFORNIA (LOS ANGELES TO ENSENADA MEXICO)

ROUTE: Los Angeles –  San Ysidro – Tuetano Taqueria – TijuanaEnsenada
Road Trip Ideas
DAYS: 3
ROUTE STOPS
·         LA to San Ysidro – 137 miles
·         San Ysidro, USA to Tijuana, Mexico – 4.5 miles
·         Tijuana to Ensenada – 104 miles
MILES COVERED: 245 miles (395 kilometers) round trip

About Road Trip:
If you were surfing in Southern California, there is no doubt that you had a love affair with Baja California. The Baja Peninsula is visually stunning, the beaches are mesmerizing and the restaurant industry has grown into the envy of Mexico.
La to Ensenada: Ensenada has the soul of Baja but is only 200 miles from Los Angeles. It is perfect for a three-day weekend. Leave before daylight on Saturday morning and you will cruise through San Diego in less than two hours, cross the border quickly and be in Enseda and surfing in just over three.
San Ysidro: It is mandatory to purchase Mexican car insurance. I like to buy it via drive in San Ysidro. It takes 5 minutes and the great tacos are a block away. Everyone from the US is remodeling similar policies from the three big Mexican insurance companies. The policy has to be from a Mexican company.
Tutano Takeria: The best birria tacos (slow-roasted beef with Chilean rub and beef broth) are served on this side of Tijuana. If Bill Esparza of @StreetGourmetLA fame is a fan, you should be too.
Tijuana to Ensenada: The coastal highway from Tijuana to Enseda is a toll highway, with three toll booths, totaling approximately US $ 10. It is fast, with views of most of the ocean in perfect condition.
Ensenada: At the last toll booth before entering Ensenada is the world famous San Miguel Surf Spot. It is a right-handed mouth, which breaks like trestles, but with a small section of the crowd. After surfing all morning you have to decide whether you are going to the Asenada or from the hill to the Valle de Guadalupe wine region.

Mule 3 Restaurant - Seafood Harbor, located just a few steps from the seafood market, is different from the rest of the seafood restaurant in the Mule 3 block. Excellent salads, grilled fish filters and European style steamed muscles make it one of the best restaurants in the city.
Tostadas La Gurerens - Fresh, exotic seafood Tostada, which won a street food world competition in Singapore and mesmerized Anthony Bordain. La Guerrerense recently opened a sit-down restaurant in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City.
Manzilla Hotel - helps define regional cuisines from Harbor to Table and Ranch to Table Staples. Behind this famous restaurant is the team of celebrity chefs Benito Molina and Solange Muris.
Valle de Guadupup - Cinlon Ranch style breakfast made with local ingredients and lots of lamb. Highly regarded as one of the best meals in the Valle de Guadalupe, the wait can last for hours. Go here fast
Cuatro Cuartos - The Vineyard shines with a rustic wine bar, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most Instagram-friendly locations in the valley due to its dramatic views of the beach.
